Michael Moore, CPA, CVA

Michael cultivated interests in every aspect of buying and selling businesses. At Deloitte & Touche, he was involved with the merger of large publicly-held companies. Fascinated by the complexity of the process, he became increasingly interested, though work at Barclays Bank in underwriting and loan negotiations for leveraged buy-outs. Michael’s interests lead him to earn accreditation as a Certified Valuation Analyst and specialized in business valuations with his own CPA firm, which merged with TB&A, later LB&A. His understanding and expertise in mergers and acquisitions is enhanced by his unique vantage points of being a buyer, a seller, a banker, as well as a CPA.
Michael’s approach to business valuation starts with a comprehensive understanding of his client’s business through an analysis of their finances compared with similar companies. Those comparisons lead to the formulation of strategies that enhance the company’s value.
Often clients do not fully understand the factors that drive the value of their business, both negative and positive. When armed with that knowledge, business owner can dramatically improve their value. Whether the motivation is to fund retirement, create a legacy for children, or to improve one’s lifestyle, Michael helps business owners focus on these important considerations to make the business more successful.
Michael, previously an instructor of accounting at UNCC, is now active in church-related activities. He enjoys mission trips and recently traveled abroad to help a manager with accounting in a soup kitchen.
